I enjoyed making a log cabin quilt with these lavender fabrics (and a light peach for the center square). The darkest fabric had too much variation in color though. I must always check my batiks for consistency of tone and color before including them in a patchwork design.

It was fun to find all the possible layouts for these log cabin blocks. I decided on this one with the light lavender star in the center.
I started out 2018 buying a book on half-square triangles. There are so many combinations and patterns that can pop out from other patterns when you use half-square triangles so I was eager to try to make a small quilt. What I've learned is that the more traditional blocks don't work well with Batiks like the star block in the middle photo. I like the diamond pattern on the right best.

Here's a quilt I made in the dreariness of  January using colors/fabrics that remind me of Spring.

So many bag styles on my wall- summer of 2018.
Believe it or not, I made a coat for the dog owned by my pilates instructor, Catherine. She loves her dog and asked for me to make a coat for Emphi. The coat itself was not hard to sew but getting the measurements was very difficult!
I used this video to get a rough idea of how to make the dog coat. Their measurement chart did not work well!

I bought 5 yards of beige canvas because I thought I'd be making tote bags for a church
project. We decided on a different project which is to make small cosmetic pouches so I'm left with all this canvas. I came up with a tote bag idea I really like using a blue batik fabric that I can't seem to use up. I really like the way it perks up the canvas and provides two large outer pockets. Using the same batik on the inner strap also looks great! Click HERE for my pattern.
