There is no sewing involved in making these beautiful ornaments. It is basically fabric origami. All you need is to cut rectangles 3" by 10" , press each strip as in the video (using spray starch will help with the folding) and follow the video.
When you get to the last step where you are folding the star points, a chopstick helps to push the raw ends under the folds. Trim the ends that stick out.
Use a thick gold thread to sew a loop on the top.
