I bought a large quantity of this batik fabric and could only use a little in Serena's quilt. I couldn't find a way to use a large quantity of it because it is such a strong overall color and I think that is due to the florescent colors in it. The fabric is quite beautiful in itself but the colors are very saturated so I decided that I can only use a little bit of a strong deep pink with it.
I did no piecing at all. I just used the 44 inch width and it's 60 inches long. I quilted in straight rows (well they didn't come out very straight) and now I'm binding it with the deep pink.
I've learned that florescent type colors in batiks are extremely overpowering.
Below are cushions I made from the deep pink binding fabric and I used a few colors from Serena's quilt to make a contrasting ruffle. These should go nicely in my sister Lolly's family room.
